Cathedral exhibition highlights multi-faith wedding traditions (from 6-14 February)

As part of national wedding week, Manchester Cathedral is to host an exhibition that celebrates marriage across the faith communities of Greater Manchester ending with the large event on Valentines Day. The communities involved and exhibiting include Christians Hindus, Jews, Muslims and Sikhs.

 

The exhibition, Made in Heaven, will run from 6-14 February 2010 and is free to enter.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester and the Mayor and Mayoresses of Salford and Bury will attend a launch event hosted by the Bishop of Middleton, on Monday 8 February at 7pm.

Events during the week will include-

Question and Answer session with politicians and faith leaders which will be held in the Cathedral on Thursday 11 February at 7pm.

Thanksgiving for marriage event will be held on Valentines Day. In attendance will be The Lord Lieutenant, Lord High Sheriff and Mrs Wewer together with the Mayors and Mayoresses of Bury, Tameside and Bolton, and the Mayor and Youth Mayor of Oldham. The event will be led by the Bishop of Manchester and other faith leaders in the Cathedral at 3pm on Sunday 14 February.
