This course will provide teachers with the unique opportunity to experience the resources and facilities at Manchester Art Gallery and Manchester Cathedral. You will explore art and architecture to discover meanings of religious symbols in stone, woodwork and 20th-century stained glass. This will be combined with a visit to the Holman Hunt exhibition, to learn about his involvement in the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood, the legacy of his work and how to engage with and interpret paintings.
The course will be led by Pam Elliott (Education Officer at Manchester Cathedral) and Jas Sohel, (Education Officer at Manchester Art Gallery). It is open to all interested primary and secondary teachers, particularly those who specialise in Religious Education or Art.
