Robert Beckford, ‘A land that I will show you’ (Genesis 12 v. 1) PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, September 9th, 3 pm in the Cathedral itself

This is in the context of an ecumenical service of prayer for Racial Justice Sunday, and is part of the Cathedral’s “Set All Free” programme commemorating the bicentenary of the abolition of the British slave trade. Well known as a broadcaster – in particular for his Channel 4 documentaries on religious topics - Robert Beckford comes from an Afro-Caribbean Pentecostal background. But he is critical of his own tradition, as also of the more ‘established’ churches, for what he sees as their lack of sufficient passion for justice. His books include Jesus is Dread, God and the Gangs, Jesus Dub: Theology, Music and Social Change.
