Swarrim was the first Muslim to be appointed to a Cathedral post in the country when he joined us in January 2007.  He has experience in Conference Management and is currently the Finance Assistant managing our accounts and dealing with all payments for both the Cathedral and the Visitor Centre.

Pam Elliott
Pam Elliott studied “Theology and Religious Studies” at Manchester University, and completed her PGCE in Secondary Religious Studies (with History) at Manchester Metropolitan University.  She taught RS for 7 years in Hertfordshire and Cheshire, leading an RS Department for 3 years, prior to being employed as the Education Officer in 2006.  Pam leads the Education Department and is responsible for Primary and Secondary School Visits, Adult and Family Learning and Welcoming people to the Cathedral.

Christopher Stokes
Christopher Stokes was appointed Organist & Master of the Choristers of Manchester Cathedral in 1996, having previously been appointed Organist of the Cathedral in 1992.  Prior to that he worked in London, having held posts in two of London’s leading churches: as Organist & Master of Music at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square and Director of Music at St. Margaret’s, Westminster Abbey.

As a conductor in London, he directed the professional choirs for services at St. Martin's and St. Margaret’s. He also founded The Baroque Soloists of St Martin-in-the-Fields, (a group of leading baroque players and singers in London).  In Manchester he directs the Cathedral Choir, which, in addition to the essential Opus Dei, sings for regular television and radio broadcasts and has recorded a number of CDs, which have received critical acclaim.

Jeffrey Makinson
Jeffrey Makinson  is Sub-Organist of Manchester Cathedral, a post which he has held since 1999. He accompanies the highly-acclaimed Cathedral Choir at almost all of the choral services at the cathedral, and assists with the training of the cathedral choristers. Jeffrey is also director of the Cathedral Voluntary Choir, which sings Choral Evensong on Sundays.

Alongside his work at the cathedral, Jeffrey is Tutor in Organ Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University and Tutor in Pianoforte at Chetham’s School of Music. He is busy as an accompanist, recitalist, conductor, teacher and adjudicator in the city and throughout the North West.

Before coming to Manchester, Jeffrey was Organ Scholar of York Minster for two years, before spending five years as Assistant Organist at Lincoln Minster.
