![]() Revd Gilly Myers Gilly is currently Succentor at Durham Cathedral, a post she has held for the past five years, where her primary responsibility has been liturgy and worship. She is the editor of Praxis News of Worship, an observer on the Liturgical Commission and member of the Group for Renewal of Worship (GROW). She has been an active player in two diocesan liturgical committees and has published several books. Gilly brings with her an enthusiasm for city mission and ministry, having grown up in London and lived in Coventry and Birmingham. Before moving to Durham, she was priest-in charge of a city-centre UPA parish in Nottingham. The Dean of Manchester Cathedral, Rogers Govender, said: "We are delighted that Gilly has agreed to join our team at Manchester Cathedral. Gilly comes to us with a wealth of cathedral experience in liturgy and music. She also brings relevant urban experience which will aid her in the co-ordination of our pastoral care." Talking about her new appointment, Gilly said: "I am excited by the work ahead of me in Manchester. I am very much looking forward to working with the Dean and the team at the Cathedral, and to getting to know a new city and diocese. This city-centre Cathedral serves many different groups of people; I look forward to discovering further the possibilities that it has to provide a place for searching for God, exploring prayer and spirituality, and worshipping, day by day." Gilly is married to Duncan, a priest with seventeen years of ministry in Higher Education. They have three adult children. She will be installed on 17 February, 2008. |
