Before they travel to Canterbury for the Lambeth Conference a number of the visiting bishops will be with us in Manchester - these will include the Bishops of our two Link Dioceses of Lahore and Namibia. Also coming to Manchester will be the Archbishop of Melbourne and the Bishops of the Western and Northern Region of that Diocese. There is an historic link between our Cathedral and the Melbourne Diocese in that Bishop Moorhouse who became Bishop of Manchester in 1886 was previously Bishop of Melbourne - and there are kangaroos on the bishop's throne in our cathedral in tribute to him! We are also hoping to welcome the Bishops of Karachi and Honolulu, as well as those of Maseno West , Maseno South and Southern Nyanza with whose dioceses our Diocesan Mothers` Union is linked. We will be welcoming these bishops to two services in the Cathedral. On Sunday 13th July at 4 p.m. there will be a special international service, and the following day, Monday 14th there will be a special Choral Evensong for them at 5.30 p.m. followed by a reception. Please join us for these services if you can.
