The life and work of Lesbian & Gay Foundation and of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people will be celebrated in a service of prayer, remembrance and commitment in the Cathedral on Thursday 12th June at 7.30pm.

The service is the result of excellent partnership over the last five years with Bishop Nigel, and his Advisory Group on Sexuality, in offering much needed support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered communities.

A spokesman for Lesbian & Gay Foundation commented: "We believe that the service is a fantastic way in which we can advance our work together for the benefit of all in our communities to promote tolerance, understanding and break down the barriers which prevent lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people from being fully welcomed by the Church."  

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation is inviting groups to attend the service.

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) delivers community, health and support services, clinical services, the "helpline", and a range of support groups to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people. They also provide information and advice, through a range of leaflets and booklets, a monthly magazine, "Outnorthwest", and online news pages and email newsletters.

They help influence public policy and opinion on lesbian gay bisexual transgendered issues by liaising with leaders in education, religion and politics, and by involvement in events such as the recent Health Summit which Bishop Nigel was a keynote speaker at. Their current initiatives include a campaign to end homophobia in schools.
