At present the choir is under the leadership of William Silk. The Choir members are selected from schools around Northern Natal namely, Ladysmith, Glencoe, Dundee, Newcastle, Utrecht and Vryheid. The choir consists of choristers from the age of 14 to 18, whose mission it is to share joy, friendship, freedom and blessing of choir music with others. The choir has always been a gathering place of highly talented learners: head boys and girls, top academic students as well as sports achievers. The past years have seen the choir touring the whole of South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe as well as numerous trips to Europe. During December 2002 the choir represented South Africa in Prague, competing against other Youth Choirs from around the world, and received a silver medal. The choir has been placed in the top 3 of International choir competitions held in Llangollen, Wales at the International Eisteddfod, as well as Gaza and Austria and we had the honor of performing for Pope John Paul II during a high mass at St. Peter's in Rome. The choir is proud of its world class standard and promises highly enjoyable concerts for the young and old. |
