UpClose: Hugo Ticciati Spiritualism and Minimalism

Date: Tuesday 31 October 2017 (7.30pm)

Manchester Camerata return to Manchester Cathedral.

The Cathedral’s vast and spiritual space provides the perfect setting for this atmospheric UpClose experience. Artistic Partner, Hugo Ticciati, a violinist with a holistic approach to music, encompassing aspects of literature, philosophy and meditation – he is also an explorer of the connection between movement and music in his concerts. This concert is also the first step in a collaboration with Clod Ensemble, a company that have made their name by crafting a unique language in visual theatre. Clod Ensemble will be working with Hugo and our musicians over the coming years to re-imagine what a performance of classical music might be. Music includes Vasks’ beautiful Concerto for Violin and Strings, Distant Light, Arvo Pärt’s spine-tingling Silouan’s Song and In Memoriam Benjamin Britten, plus Haydn’s Farewell Symphony, as much visually poignant as it is sonically.
