Alex Smith is a Manchester based percussionist and educator and a recent graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music. He has performed internationally with orchestras, ensembles and chamber music groups, with recent highlights including a concert hall tour of China with a percussion ensemble, performances at the European Saxophone Congress in Porto (with sax & percussion duo - The Melia Duo -) and orchestral performances in Dresden, Germany.

As a Marimba soloist, Alex regularly performs in recital series’ across the North of England, and recently placed 5th in the highly renowned China National Percussion Competition - Solo Marimba category.

Alex works freelance as a percussion tutor, teaching orchestral, drum kit and world percussion privately, in schools, and in music centres across greater Manchester
