The Choirs
A number of choirs perform at Manchester Cathedral.

The Cathedral Choir consists of up to 20 trebles (boys and girls) and nine Lay-Clerks, who are all professional singers in and around Manchester. The Choir is directed by the Organist & Master of the Choristers, Christopher Stokes.
Cathedral Voluntary Choir
The Cathedral Voluntary Choir is a fundamental part of the Cathedral community. It sings for services and concerts within the Cathedral timetable and participates in a number of extra services and events in the cathedral and throughout the diocese.

Visiting Choirs
The Cathedral welcomes visiting choirs from around the diocese and further afield, to sing services during the Cathedral choirs’ vacation (particularly July – August). Those interested please contact the Sub-Organist.
Friends of Cathedral Music
Friends of Cathedral Music exists to safeguard the priceless heritage of cathedral music, to encourage high standards in choral and organ music and to increase public knowledge and appreciation of cathedral music. Since its foundation in 1956, it has given over £1.8 million to cathedrals, church and collegiate choirs to support choral singing and has endowed many choristerships.
Members receive twice yearly magazines and have the opportunity to attend local and national events called “gatherings” in magnificent cathedrals.
