Capture the Cathedral: The People's Choice 2014

A selection of entries from the Capture the Cathedral competition have been on display in the Cathedral for the past month. All of the photographs displayed were of high quality and it was very difficult to choose a favourite! However, during the exhibition, that is what we asked the members of the public to do and over 340 people voted.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 'The People's Choice' is Dave Murray with his photograph 'The Doorway'.

PwC dig deep to boost city centre growth

On Friday 16 May, 24 volunteers from PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) took part in a Manchester Garden City Tidy Up event on Victoria Street, organised by environmental regeneration charity Groundwork and funded by CityCo, Manchester’s city centre management company and PwC.

St George's Day Quarter Peal Attempt

St George is one of our patron saints and to celebrate St George's Day, the Cathedral bell ringers attempted a quarter peal attempt. A quarter peal on the ten Cathedral bells is in the region on 1260 changes and should take between 50 to 60 minutes depending on the speed of the ringing. Five of our own ringers took part, five others came from as far away as Leeds in one direction and Chester in the other.

Well done to the ringers who successfully completed the quarter peal.
