The Dean and Chapter seek to appoint a Worship & Music Administrator from August 2018. This full time, permanent position presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join this busy, urban cathedral to help ensure its liturgical and musical offerings are professionally and sensitively presented to the congregation and visitors. The closing date for applications is 6 July 2018 and interviews are scheduled for 20 July 2018. Faith and Peace-building: A Bigger Vision

I was recently attending an Asian event in the city and during the evening a colleague asked me why I am willing to attend such events given my role as an Anglican priest and dean of the Cathedral in the city. This colleague had become aware that over the past months and years I have visited other churches, mosques, temples, Gudwaras, synagogues, a Buddhist temple, etc. My response to this question was that I firmly believe in breaking down barriers and building understanding of differences among the people of our city. By supporting different (faith) communities I believe we can learn new things, share our own beliefs and practices, and build lasting friendships. This is one of the best ways to build a peaceful community. My understanding of community is to be together beyond our narrow, dogmatic religious formations or other such like.

The Capture the Cathedral photography competition is now in its sixth year. The competition has produced some absolutely stunning images of one of the oldest buildings in Manchester. It is open to absolutely everyone; whether or not you fancy yourself as the next David Bailey, are studying photography at school or college or just happen to be visiting.

Manchester Together - 22 May 2018

Manchester City Council have announced further details of plans to commemorate one year since the 22 May 2017 terror attack.

The events are based around two themes: Remembrance, Reflection and a Celebration of Life – recognising each of the 22 people who lost their lives in the attack, those who were injured and first responders, and Manchester Together – embracing the solidarity shown by the city.

National Cathedrals Conference: Sacred Spaces

The National Cathedrals Conference will take place from 17 to 20 September 2018 in Manchester . This will be the first time that cathedral clergy, lay staff and chapter and council members will all gather under one roof to discuss and facilitate development of a strategic vision for the future direction of cathedrals. Entitled “Sacred Space: Common Ground”, the conference will see delegates gathering over four days. It will be addressed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.
