Joint Pastoral Letter

The Archbishops have issued a pastoral letter following the end of the hearing which took place over the last three weeks as part of the Independent Inquiry on Child Sexual Abuse.

“We are writing to you to ask for your prayers as Holy Week begins and as the Independent Inquiry on Child Sexual Abuse has finished its hearing into matters in the Diocese of Chichester. Please will you pray this Holy Week especially for all those involved, and for all affected by safeguarding issues.”

As a result of feedback we have received, we are looking to host two information sessions later this year to get an indication of the level of interest, the sites that pilgrims would like to visit and the duration of the pilgrimage.

National Cathedrals Conference: book before 31 March for early bird prices

The National Cathedrals Conference will take place from 17th to 20th September 2018 in Manchester . This will be the first time that cathedral clergy, lay staff and chapter and council members will all gather under one roof to discuss and facilitate development of a strategic vision for the future direction of cathedrals. Entitled “Sacred Space: Common Ground”, the conference will see delegates gathering over four days.

The Manchester Cathedral Poetry Competition returns for its 20th year!

The Manchester Cathedral Poetry Competition returns for its 20th year!

First Prize £500 and Manchester Cathedral Poet of the Year 2018

Second Prize: £250 Third Prize: £150

Winners and seven runners-up will be invited to read their poetry at the Manchester Literature Festival event in October. The closing date for entries is Saturday 30 June 2018.
