Friday 2 June 2017 - Visitor Information

Morning Prayer (9.00am) will take place in the Fraser Chapel.

The Cathedral will close to the public at 9.30am and reopen with limited access at 12.30pm.

Holy Communion (1.10pm) and Evening Prayer (4.30pm) will take place in the Fraser Chapel.

A Statement from the Dean of Manchester

The Cathedral community is devastated by the terrorist bomb at Manchester Arena in which over twenty people have been killed and about sixty people have been injured. The concert attended by mostly young people was intended to be an experience of fun and joy but has been made into a graveyard for innocent young people. Such acts of violence are unacceptable in our society.

The Cathedral will close to the public at 1.15pm so that we can complete preparations for the Broughton House Centenary Service.

Evening Prayer will be said at 4.30pm. Those attending Evening Prayer should enter via the Cathedral Office (follow path to the right).

Capture the Cathedral is now open for entries!

The Capture the Cathedral competition has produced some absolutely stunning images of one of the oldest buildings in Manchester. It is open to absolutely everyone; whether or not you fancy yourself as the next David Bailey, are studying photography at school or college or just happen to be visiting.

Photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels are invited to 'Capture the Cathedral' in different and imaginative ways.

Watch Cristina Rodrigues working on new altar frontals

Here is a short video of Portuguese artist, Cristina Rodrigues preparing an art installation for Manchester Cathedral that will be inaugurated in the autumn of 2017.

Cristina’s project involves creating seven textile works for four of Manchester Cathedral’s altars and it is the product of a partnership with the Municipality of Castelo Branco, a town in the interior central area of Portugal, home to the sumptuous and noblest of Portuguese embroideries, known as the Castelo Branco Embroidery.

The Annual Reports for 2016/2017 are now available for download in readiness for the AGM & Easter Vestry meeting on Sunday 7 May 2017. To download and read the reports, click here.

Hard copies will be available at back of Church from Sunday 29 April and then from the Administration Office, Tuesday to Friday, between 8.30am and 4.30pm.
