Guides

Two females and one male stood in front of a paintingHelp us to reveal the history of Manchester and its Cathedral by becoming a Cathedral Tour Guide. The Cathedral is a beautiful medieval building rich in history. The role of a guide is to open people’s eyes to all of this. In this historic Medieval Quarter you will also find Chetham’s School of Music and the world famous Chetham’s Library, the 15th century Hanging Bridge, one of the oldest structures in Manchester; our wonderful neighbours also include the National Football Museum, Manchester Arena, the Printworks and the Corn Exchange. We share visitors, training, knowledge and friendship and the opportunity to get to know other cultural venues in the city will be offered regularly.

You will generally be on duty for 2–3 hours, morning or afternoon, on a weekly or fortnightly basis alongside our Welcomers and Chaplain.

Full training is given. An interest in Manchester’s rich history and the role of this Cathedral at the heart of this 21st century metropolis is essential.
