During school term time

During the choristers’ school terms, services at Manchester Cathedral follow this pattern:

Sundays
8.45am Matins (Book of Common Prayer)
9.00am Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer)
10.30am Sung Eucharist (Common Worship Order One)
5.30pm Choral Evensong (Book of Common Prayer)

Monday – Friday
9.00am Morning Prayer (Common Worship; Wednesday – Book of Common Prayer)
1.10pm Holy Communion (Common Worship Order One)
5.30pm Choral Evensong (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
4.30pm Evening Prayer (Monday & Friday)

Saturday
9.00am Morning Prayer (Common Worship)
9.15am Holy Communion (Common Worship Order One)
5.30pm Choral Evensong


During school holidays

The Cathedral Choirs are on Summer holiday from Sunday 10 July until Monday 5 September
2016. During the main holiday periods (Christmas, Easter, Summer) choristers’ school holidays, the pattern changes slightly, as follows:

4.30pm Evening Prayer or Choral Evensong (Book of Common Prayer)

Monday – Friday
9.00am Morning Prayer (Common Worship; Wednesday – Book of Common Prayer)
1.10pm Holy Communion (Common Worship Order One)
4.30pm Evening Prayer

Saturday
9.00am Morning Prayer (Common Worship)
9.15am Holy Communion (Common Worship Order One)
4.30pm Evening Prayer

 


Bank Holidays and after Christmas and Easter

On Christmas Day the Sunday pattern is followed, except that Evening Prayer is at 12noon.

On Boxing Day and New Year’s Day (and other Christmas time bank holidays):

11.00am Morning Prayer followed by Holy Communion (Common Worship)
4.30pm Evening Prayer

On other Bank Holidays and during the week after Christmas and Easter, the weekday pattern is as follows:

Monday - Friday
9.00am Morning Prayer followed by Holy Communion (Common Worship)
4.30pm Evening Prayer.
