On Saturday 13 June at 11am the Cathedral will host Sergio Silva in a concert of organ music. Entrance to this recital is free.
Born in Lisbon, Sérgio Silva studied the organ with João Vaz and António Esteireiro at Lisbon’s Gregorian Institute and holds an Honours degree and a Master's degree in Music from the University of Évora in Portugal. He took part in a variety of Masterclasses by internationally renowned organists, such as José Luís González Uriol, Jan Wilhelm Jansen, Michel Bouvard, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Hans-Ola Ericsson and Kristian Olesen.
Sérgio performs regularly as a soloist and in ensembles with prestigious Portuguese orchestras and choirs, both in Portugal and internationally, namely in Spain, Italy, England, France, Macau and Germany. He currently teaches the organ at Lisbon’s Gregorian Institute and at Lisbon’s Diocesan School for Sacred Music, and is also the resident organist at Basílica da Estrela Church and St Nicholas Church in Lisbon.
